Help for Clients Impacted by Storms in Illinois, Missouri and Kansas

BLOOMINGTON, ILL. (March 15, 2024) -- Thursday’s storms have resulted in hundreds of claims already filed by clients of COUNTRY Financial® across Illinois, Missouri and Kansas. COUNTRY Financial is assisting clients by phone at 866-COUNTRY and online at countryfinancial.com.

COUNTRY Financial® claims representatives are making contact with clients who have filed claims and are moving them through the claims process as quickly as possible.

If someone suspects they may have a claim, such as auto or property damage, as a result of the recent storms, regardless of which insurer they have, they should take the following steps:

1. Leverage digital capabilities – COUNTRY clients can file claims through their account on countryfinancial.com or through the COUNTRY Financial app.
2. Take photos of any and all damage.
3. If there is spoiled food in a refrigerator, take pictures before throwing it out.  Some insurers will cover the cost of spoiled food.
4. Make an inventory of all damaged property, including vehicles.
5. Save all receipts from emergency repairs, including receipts for basic items such as tarps or duct tape.
6. If you are considering using a public adjuster for your claims, keep these things in mind:

• Adding parties to the claim process can potentially add time and cost to your settlement.
• An adjuster’s fee may be taken from your settlement proceeds.
• It may take longer to get your settlement if the check is issued to both you and your public adjuster.

Once a client reports a claim, it will be assigned to a claims representative who will get in touch with them for more details. Depending on the type of claim that is filed, the damage will likely be inspected, and the claims rep will contact the insured to settle the claim.

These types of storms are always a good reminder for home and auto owners to check in on their policies and make sure they understand what is covered if something were to happen to their property.
